Word Description
Activity An Activity is the action that you want to take with a Service, such as Enrollment or Attendance.
Competency A Competency can best be described as one of two things: a “skill” grade or a “specialized testing” grade. A “skill” grade is a rating or score given to a Student as they complete specific tasks throughout their program training. For example, an Automotive program may require a Student to prove their skill in performing an oil change. In this particular program, there happens to be twelve separate steps to completing an oil change, therefore twelve separate Competency records would be recorded to describe each step of the oil change, therefore providing a grade for each step of the process the Student must complete. A “specialized testing” grade is usually a score given to a Student for a specialized exam that must be taken in order to acquire a Certificate for a particular program. For example, a Student must complete a state exam in order to practice Medical Assisting, as well as completing a certain amount of hours of study. Competency records are tied directly to each Student and follow them throughout their progress in a program.
Information Form An information form consists of one or more pages showing stored data of a Service. An information form can also be thought of as screens containing data.
Refund A Refund is a procedure that is performed on items that have had at least one allocated Payment, and with that, the Refund can only be made up to the total amount paid to the Charge. In other words, the amount of money that can be Refunded can not exceed the amount that has actually been paid, however a refund can be processed for a lesser amount than the total paid. Refunds are NOT for overpayment on Charges. A Refund is an option that is used only when the Charged item is expected to be returned to inventory, or in the matter of tuition, a seat in a Class is re-opened. This is because an Adjustment is made to the Charge, in the sum of the Refund, at the same time the Refund is processed. If more money was paid to an item than was necessary and the money needs to be returned to the Student, it is referred to as a Disbursement.
